About this tool

About Date Add/Subtract Calculator

Date Add/Subtract Calculator moves a date forward or backward by a number of days, weeks, months or years. It shows the resulting date, its weekday, its ISO 8601 form and the number of calendar days between the two dates, applying real calendar rules for month ends and leap years.

Deadlines, notice periods, renewals and follow-ups are often expressed as “30 days from” or “6 months after” a date. Counting on a calendar is slow and month ends are easy to get wrong; a date-only calculation gives the same answer in every time zone.

Best practices

Tips for best results

  • Use days rather than months when a rule says “30 days”, as months vary in length.
  • Check whether your deadline counts the starting day; this tool does not.
  • Read the note when a month step lands on a day that does not exist.
  • For working-day deadlines, use the Business Days Calculator instead.

FAQ

Common questions

February has no 31st, so the result is the last valid day of February: 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. The same rule applies to any month or year step that lands on a day that does not exist, and the result explains when it was adjusted.
Dates are calculated on the real Gregorian calendar, so 29 February exists only in leap years. Adding one year to 29 February 2024 gives 28 February 2025, and adding four years gives 29 February 2028.
No. The calculator works with calendar dates only — never clock times or time zones — so the result is the same wherever you are and whatever the season.
One week is exactly 7 days, so adding 2 weeks is the same as adding 14 days.
It is the number of days from the starting date to the result, not counting the starting day itself. For example, 1 March + 10 days = 11 March, which is 10 calendar days later.
Yes. Adding or subtracting 0 returns the starting date, with 0 days between.
Results must fall between 1 January of year 1 and 31 December 9999. Amounts must be whole numbers; larger steps that would leave that range are rejected with a message.
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser.
